Interesting site of the week:  Nigel and Trevor -- what goofy British schoolboys do for fun.  Really this has nothing whatsoever to do with learning English except that the characters in the cartoons are English, but I like this website a great deal.  Requires Flash player.

Vocabulary Quiz, One Point
Multiple-choice vocabulary quiz (and sometimes a written spelling test) on the previous week's list of 20 Greek- and Latin-root words.  Check the schedule here.
Creative Writing Assignment is given based on new vocabulary list (check new list here). Will be due the following week.
Every Four Weeks: Oct.17,  Nov. 14, Dec. 12, Jan. 9, January 30 (extra credit)
Book Report, Written in full sentences and paragraphs, according to outline provided.  This is a 200-point project, in fulfillment of the California State Standard expecting that students read between 1 million and 1.5 million words per year on their own.  It also helps fulfill the standard that they be capable of writing reports of between 500- and 1,000 words, using appropriate citation and referencing.
